The power to determine the complete quality of gas provided to the Standards Institution (VIDEO)

Measures have been taken to give the Sri Lanka Standards Institution the power to determine and monitor the quality of gas and related equipment.

State Minister of Consumer Protection Lasantha Alagiyawanna stated that the relevant gazette notification will be issued soon.

The Minister of State said that no government agency had inquired into the quality of gas after 1960 and the request made by the Consumer Affairs Authority a few weeks ago to give that power to the Standards Institution had been referred to the Controller of Imports and Exports.

Accordingly, the relevant letter has been issued by the Controller of Imports and Exports to the Sri Lanka Standards Institution, said Alagiyawanna.
