Date:

The National Transport Commission stated that the report on the revision of bus fares will be handed over by the Secretary to the Ministry of Transport today (28). The report is inclusive of a number of factors, including rising fuel prices, said Nilan Mirando, the Commission Director.

The report proposes to increase the minimum bus fare by Rs. 02 and other charges by 08 per cent.

State Minister of Transport Dilum Amunugama stated that the bus fares will be revised from tomorrow (29) based on the report prepared by the Commission.

The bus unions demanded a fare rise due to the fuel price surge and proposed to increase the minimum bus fare by Rs. 20. The minimum bus fare, however, will increase up to Rs. 16.
