July 07, Colombo (LNW): Sri Lanka’s Parliament is scheduled to hold an adjournment debate this afternoon (07) on the deadly violence that recently erupted at Negombo Prison, following a request submitted by the Opposition.
The debate is due to take place from 3.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. and is expected to focus on the circumstances surrounding the incident, which claimed multiple lives and raised concerns over prison security and the handling of the unrest.
Opposition MPs are expected to seek explanations from the government regarding the events that led to the clashes, the response by prison authorities, and the measures being taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
