Showery conditions expected across several provinces: Mainly dry weather to prevail elsewhere (July 26)

July 26, Colombo (LNW): Several spells of showers will occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts, the Department of Meteorology said today (26).

Mainly dry weather will prevail over the other areas of the island.

Strong winds about (40-50) kmph can be expected at times over Western slopes of the Central hills, Northern and North-central provinces and in Hambantota, Trincomalee and Puttalam districts.

Marine Weather:

Condition of Rain: A few showers may occur in the sea areas off the coast extending from Negombo to Matara via Colombo and Galle.

Winds: Winds will be south-westerly. Wind speed will be (30-40) kmph. Wind speed can increase up to (50-60) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil. Wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai and from Galle to Hambantota.

State of Sea: The sea areas off the coasts extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil will be rough at times. The sea areas off the coasts extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai and from Galle to Hambantota will be fairly rough at times.

The wave height may increase about (2.0 – 2.5) meters in the sea areas off the coast extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
