August 03, Colombo (LNW): Lieutenant General Nilantha Premaratne, Commander of the Army, visited ‘Mihindu Seth Medura’, Attidiya on 02 August 2026 to share moments of camaraderie with the resident War Heroes and inquire into their wellbeing. The visit marked his first interaction with the resident War Heroes following his assumption of duties as the 26th Commander of the Army.
During the visit, the Commander of the Army engaged in cordial conversations with the War Heroes and presented them with gift parcels containing essential items as a gesture of care and appreciation. As a gesture of respect and gratitude, the War Heroes presented portraits skilfully created by them to the Commander of the Army.
Mrs. Vindya Premaratne, President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), Brigadier R G L K Weerakoon RWP RSP, Director of the Directorate of Veterans’ Affairs, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks also attended the occasion.
