August 11, Colombo (LNW): Showers will occur at times in Sabaragamuwa province and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.
Several spells of showers may occur in Western and North-western provinces.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Uva and eastern provinces and in Mullaitivu district after 2.00 p.m.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damage caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Marine Weather:
Condition of Rain: Showers may occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Matara via Colombo and Galle.
Winds: Winds will be westerly to south-westerly. Wind speed will be (30-40) kmph.
Wind speed can increase up to (50-60) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
State of Sea: The sea areas off the coasts extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota will be rough at times. The naval and fishing communities who are engaged in fishing and naval activities in the above sea areas are requested to be vigilant in this regard.
The other sea areas around the island will be moderate.
The wave height may increase about (2.0 – 2.5) meters in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Pottuvil via Galle and Hambantota.
