August 25, Colombo (LNW): Ranjith Rajasinghe has taken charge as the new Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL), assuming office at the authority’s headquarters on Monday.
The change in leadership was marked by a gathering of senior officials, including Ministry Secretary W. W. S. Mangala, CAASL Director General Daminda Rabukwella, Airport and Aviation Services Company Director Primal de Silva and members of the authority’s senior management.
A Chartered Accountant by profession, Rajasinghe brings more than 27 years of experience spanning financial management, internal auditing, public-sector administration, governance and risk management.
His professional career includes a period as Director of Finance at the Sri Lanka Handicrafts Board, better known as Laksala. During his tenure, he was involved in overseeing the organisation’s financial planning, accounting operations and cash-flow management.
Rajasinghe also has extensive experience from his more than two decades of service in the Sri Lanka Army, where he held a number of senior positions involving financial oversight and administration.
His responsibilities during his military career included managing substantial operational budgets, strengthening financial controls, conducting internal audits and overseeing administrative functions.
His combination of public-sector, financial and organisational experience comes as Sri Lanka’s aviation industry continues to focus on improving efficiency, strengthening regulatory oversight and supporting the country’s broader connectivity with international markets.
Rajasinghe is expected to bring his financial and governance expertise to the authority as it works with aviation industry stakeholders and government agencies on the continued development of Sri Lanka’s civil aviation sector.
