September 10, Colombo (LNW): Sri Lanka has recorded a further rise in dengue-related fatalities this year, with the death toll now reaching 74, according to the latest figures.
The island has also continued to see a significant number of infections, with the National Dengue Control Unit reporting 96,847 cases so far this year.
The figures highlight the continuing public health challenge posed by dengue, particularly as mosquito breeding can increase in areas where stagnant water accumulates.
Health authorities continue to urge the public to take precautions and eliminate potential breeding sites around homes and other premises.
With the number of reported infections approaching the 100,000 mark, authorities are expected to maintain surveillance and prevention efforts as they seek to contain the spread of the disease.
