Rs. 35 Million in Assets Linked to ‘Loku Patty’ Frozen in Money Laundering Probe

September 22, Colombo (LNW): Authorities have placed a freeze on property estimated to be worth Rs. 35 million as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged financial activities of organised crime and drug trafficking suspect known as ‘Loku Patty’.

The action was carried out by the Illegal Assets Investigation Division under the provisions of Sri Lanka’s Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

Police said the assets include a 15-perch plot of land and a two-storey residential property in the Welipenna area. The properties have been placed under restrictions while investigators examine their alleged links to the suspect.

The asset-freezing order forms part of a wider inquiry into the suspected movement and accumulation of illicit funds.

Investigators from the Illegal Assets Investigation Division are continuing their inquiries, with further action expected depending on the findings of the investigation.
