September 29, Colombo (LNW): Sri Lanka celebrated a landmark moment at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan after javelin thrower Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage secured the men’s title with a spectacular effort of 88.55 metres.
Pathirage saved his best performance for his final attempt, producing the decisive throw to move ahead of the field and claim the gold medal.
