October 01, Colombo (LNW): The atmospheric conditions are getting favourable for afternoon thundershowers in most parts of the island from today (01).
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damage caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at most part of the island after 1.00 p.m. Fairly heavy falls above 75 mm are likely at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, Eastern and North central provinces and in Mannar district.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces during the early hours of the morning.
Marine Weather:
Condition of Rain: Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mullaittivu to Pottuvil via Trincomalee and Batticaloa during the evening or night.
Winds: Winds will be South-westerly. Wind speed will be (20-30) kmph.
State of Sea: Sea areas around the island will be slight.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
