October 05, Colombo (LNW): Police have arrested a 27-year-old man suspected of assisting in the fatal shooting of three people travelling in a three-wheeler in the Baddegama area.
The arrest was made yesterday in Ambalangoda by officers from the Galle District Crime Division, who have been investigating the incident since the shooting took place on 27 September.
The victims — a man and two women — were travelling together in the three-wheeler when they were allegedly targeted in the attack. The incident prompted an extensive investigation by the district crime unit, with officers pursuing several leads in an effort to identify those involved.
The suspect, who is from the Karandeniya area, is alleged to have played a role in facilitating the killings.
A 48-hour detention order has been secured, allowing investigators additional time to question the suspect and gather further evidence relating to the triple murder.
The Galle District Crime Division is continuing its inquiries, with further developments expected as investigators work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attack and identify any other individuals who may have been involved.
