EXCLUSIVE: Anti-Corruption Investigators Raid Rakitha Rajapaksa’s Residence in Rajagiriya

October 29, Colombo (LNW): Officials from Sri Lanka’s Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) reportedly visited the Rajagiriya residence of Rakitha Rajapaksha, son of former Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapaksha, on the night of October 28 as part of an inquiry into his financial assets.

The investigators arrived at an apartment complex where Rakitha Rajapaksha is believed to reside, seeking to pursue inquiries relating to his wealth and financial affairs. However, they were unable to meet him, as he and his driver had reportedly left the premises before the team arrived.

Sources further claimed that both men’s mobile phones had been switched off, making it difficult to establish contact with them.

Meanwhile, Wijeyadasa Rajapaksha is said to have made several attempts to find his son by contacting people within his circle of acquaintances. Those efforts reportedly failed to establish his whereabouts at the time.

Rakitha Rajapaksha was arrested on 25 June 2025 over allegations connected to the acceptance of a bribe amounting to Rs. 120 million from an individual described as an underworld figure. He subsequently spent approximately one month in remand custody before being released on bail.

The latest reported visit comes amid continued scrutiny of the case and questions surrounding his financial dealings. However, the circumstances of the investigators’ visit and any further developments in the inquiry have yet to be officially clarified.
