August 06, Colombo (LNW): Major General U.K.D.D.P. Udugama of the Gajaba Regiment has officially taken office as the 70th Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, assuming one of the organisation’s most senior leadership positions at Army Headquarters.
The formal assumption of duties was marked by religious observances and traditional blessings, following which the newly appointed Chief of Staff completed the ceremonial process by signing official documents at his office, according to a statement issued by the Sri Lanka Army.
Major General Udugama steps into the role after serving as the Army’s Deputy Chief of Staff, bringing with him extensive experience gained through a distinguished military career.
A number of senior military personnel, including Principal Staff Officers, senior officers, officers and other ranks, attended the ceremony to congratulate Major General Udugama and extend their best wishes as he begins his tenure in the Army’s second-highest appointment.
